What is the best approach to fixing an under mount kitchen sink?
My under mount kitchen sink is failing and pulling away from the granite counter top and I worry will continue to get worse or damage the disposal. The person who installed the sink obviously did a poor job and the sink is basically separating from the cut out area on the counter top. From what I can tell, there are no brackets, just wooden braces on the perimeter of the cabinet. Whats the best way to fix this? Actual Bracing? Brackets? I have 1" granite. Thank you for your help!

Those sinks are held on with a bead of silicone. Remove your sink and reinstall it. Since you can’t remove the counter you will have to hold the sink up with braces while it dries. Be sure to get all the old sealant off before putting the new on. It will be easier if you take the complete sink out instead of trying to work around the pipes.

the adhesive properties of juicy fruit chewin gum go largely unrecognized by the construction industry. generating the required amount of warm, moist, post orally manipulated juicy fruit can be problematic if your jaw muscles are not in top shape. one helpful tip is to recruit family members to help with this turning your project into a fun ‘family activity’. once the gum is in place add a few cinder blocks at each end of the sink and shim with old magazines. the cinderblocks will aid in helping you to cut down on that nasty under sink clutter as there will be little room left for anything else… but rest assured your sink will not fall out again. or check http://www.askthebuilder.com/662_Undermount_Kitchen_Sinks.shtml
