When I run my bathroom sink, water backs up in y bathtub. Lately, that water is black. I've tried Drano. idea?

We have "snaked" the drain and used many bottles of Liquid Plumr and Drano, but the bathtub drains very slowly still and gets backed up when I run the water in the sink. The reverse, however, does not apply. The sink drains just fine and doesn’t get backed up.

IF YOUR DRAIN IS BURIED UNDER YOUR SLAB(IF YOU HAVE A HOUSE ON A SLAB) IT MAY HAVE FAILED SO THAT THE DIRT IS PLUGGING THE LINE. WHEN YOU REAM OUT THE LINE KEEP INSPECTING THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE FOR SIGNS OF MUD. IT MAY BE YOU HAVE CAST IRON SEWER PIPE AND ACID DRAIN CLEANER HAS EATEN THROUGH IT.

Sounds like you’re on a septic system…if so, it’s probably time to have it emptied.

It sounds as though your sewer system might be backing up. You really should call a plumber.

Never use Draino or any other chemicals!!! Why use a something to unclog a drain if it is backing up in the tub? The last thing to use is a chemical.

You may try the one thing that noone else has suggested. Check your vent pipes. I lived in South Florida where we had a problem with mud dobber type bees building nests in plumbing vents. That causes a vacumn when you flush toilets or even run water thru the sinks. It can be cleared buy dropping a water hose, turned on, down the pipes, These are or should be connected to your drains and will not cause any problems to your interior. If water backs up in the vent, you have found the problem. Sure hope this helps as plumbers don’t come cheap anywhere.

you need to snake the line through the tub trap. rent a small snake 1/4 inch cable remove tub overflow plate (trip lever) put cable Thu drain & snake . if that doesn’t work find the nearest clean out plug remove plug carfully you might need a bucket then snake from that point. good luck
